SAM Club Night

Whiteknights blood bikes

Our speaker for the evening is Matthew Beyton-Tullett (PR & Communication Director of the Whiteknights Yorkshire Blood Bikes). There have been a lot of developments in the Whiteknights since we last heard from them, although SAM’s very able liaison person, Roy Clark, keeps us up-to-date with any help the Whiteknights may need.

As part of our charitable role in helping our local community, SAM has always supported the brilliant work that the Whiteknights carry out as volunteer NHS dispatch riders. They provide a vital out-of-hours service in ensuring that laboratory specimens, blood, premature baby milk and anything else that can be fitted on a motorbike.

"There is nothing more satisfying in this work than arriving at the labs and the delivery is whipped out of your hand with the exclamation:
'Great! the doctor needs the results from this sample ASAP.'
We make a real difference to people's lives"

At a recent event at Tapton Hall, Sheffield the Trustees of Ivanhoe Lodge formally handed over  the latest bike to join the Whiteknights Yorkshire Blood Bikes fleet,  “Ivanhoe” – a BMW R1200RTP.

Ivanhoe formed part of a very generous total donation totalling £30,000 to run and maintain the machine for the next three years.
