SAM Weekly Newsletter – 13 August 2021

There’s been a lot of FOMO (Fear of Missing Out) this week. As some SAM members were not on the MailChimp list we have reviewed the email addresses to ensure that all SAM members can get your weekly newsletter. If you want it, there is always an ‘unsubscribe’ option at the bottom of any SAM emails. As emails are the best way we know to keep you informed, if you do unsubscribe SAM emails, because the gossip mill is so unreliable, you may suffer from FOMO too. Many thanks to Steve Bennett (Guidance Secretary) for his help in the task of checking the email lists. Steve is going to be away for four weeks so if anyone can help out with Guidance Secretary duties let a member of the SAM Committee know that you are willing to step up. Road Safety GB and Devitt Insurance have been very busy this week promoting Kevin Williams’ online ‘Science of Being Seen’ presentation. BikeSafe is back up and running and proving very popular, so you’d better be quick in booking you places. There a nice article about ‘What makes a F1rst Class Pass’ in the IAM RoadSmart advanced rider test. The Notts Classic Car and Motorcycle show is back and always makes for a great day out. There’s a suggestion that, from 2022 onwards, vehicles in the EU and UK will be fitted with automatic speed limiters. There’s a great story about a drone being used to locate a downed biker. Along with the usual news from SYSRP (South Yorkshire Safer Roads Partnership), the less obvious biking stories on the internet and the latest from IAM RoadSmart this is your club’s weekly newsletter…but, if you want an ‘ah’ moment take a look at ‘And they’re off!’ on Facebook.

Read, enjoy and share. Until next week…

Stay healthy and ride safe, Ed.
