SAM’s New Chief National Observer

Sheffield Advanced Motorcyclists - it's unanimous SAM's Chief National Observer is: Andy Frith.

Looking for someone to fill the late Les Hatfield’s boots and follow Chris Holland as SAM’s Chief National Observer was always going to be a tall order. The problem was made more complicated by all the brilliantly talented National Observers we have in our club. One person though stands out as truly exceptional. He’s been named as SAM’s top observer for 4 of the last 7 years. He has been responsible for initiating the SAM Observer peer assessment programme. He set up and regularly chaired Observer training meetings. He has conducted extra training sessions in helping bikers develop their slow riding skills. He initiated and established the Green Badge Plus advanced rider assessment scheme. He was the first person in SAM to be awarded an IAM RoadSmart Masters Certificate. He has had various roles on the SAM Committee and represented the club to a range of community organisations. He has promoted road safety and advanced riding training within the local community through charity events. With his professional background in the South Yorkshire Police and a commercial training company, being a Police Grade 1 and Class 1 driver, always keen to raise standards in all aspects of road safety, in the end, the SAM Committee’s unanimous choice for Chief National Observer is:

Andy Frith
