Steve Bennett’s mad charity bike ride

Steve's 3 wheel mad 24 hour dash from
Lands End to John O'Groats

Well, March is coming and it seems that this ‘mad biker’ is about to show just how crazy a biker can be. Riding a 14-year-old Piaggio MP3 400, SAM member Steve is taking on the challenge of riding from Lands End to John O’Groats. Steve, a widower, is doing this epic quest in memory of his wife Samantha who died of leukemia. He hopes to raise £300, but can we be a bit more generous and help this champion raise more funds for a brilliant worthy cause?

The Longest Day Up Ride

Longest Day Up is a motorbike challenge to travel from Land’s End to John O’Groats on the longest day of the year between sunrise and sunset. This year the longest day is June 21st. Sunrise at Lands End, Cornwall is 5.13am. Sunset at John O’Groats is 11.56pm (well it is close to the Artic!). That is 18 hours 43 minutes! Bikes must have been bought for no more than £300.

A REALLY Good Cause

Five-year survival rates for leukaemia have more than tripled in the last 40 years. Despite this progress, around 4,600 people still lose their lives to the disease every year. Almost a third of all cancers diagnosed in children are leukaemia. Your donation can help Cancer Research UK find better treatments and new ways to prevent the disease in adults and children.

The man himself!

Steve is a member of the Sheffield Advanced Motorcyclists. He is an IAM Observer and spends a lot of time both helping other bikers become advanced motorcyclists. He also helps many people in the local community by taking them to hospital appointments, delivering food and medication, etc. He will offer a helping hand to anyone, biker or not, where he can use his considerable talents to support others less fortunate than himself. He’s a modest person, but let’s make him feel really special and show our appreciation for taking on this amazing challenge. It totally self-funded and done solely to help others. Thank you.
