Who’s who?

There are many people who make up Sheffield Advanced Motorcyclists.

Committee

Committee

The Committee is responsible for the day-to-day running of SAM. This, of course, involves the organisation of the Club meetings, the guidance rides for Associates, the training of Observers and Senior Observers and the qualification of Observers, the social events, the open days at dealerships, collaboration with the South Yorkshire Safer Roads Partnership (and the associated Making Bikes Safer group)and the underpinning funding for all these activities.

Being a Committee Member is an interesting and, quite often, challenging task – if you want to make a contribution and are interested in joining the Committee (or you just want to find out more) then talk to any of the Committee Members, the list is set out below:

Team Leaders

Team Leaders

Team Leaders act as mentors to groups of Observers to ensure the ongoing development of each Observer. Team Leaders deal with any problems that arise in the provision of our training services. They work with the Chief National Observer to maintain the high standards of riding required. Each Team Leader provides ongoing advice and support to Observers and Associates.

To become a Team Leader you need to complete additional training and sit a separate test supervised by one of the IAM’s Staff Examiners. The Team Leader test comprises an observed ride given whilst supervising an Associate, followed by a discussion of the riding standard observed; and, a further observed ride to show that the you consistently ride at a Team Leader standard. The club is currently training all Team Leaders to meet the new IAM National Observer qualification AND that all Observers meet the new IAM motorcycle riding standards.

Sheffield Advanced Motorcyclists are an ‘Official Provider’ of the IAM RoadSmart motorcycle training programme, so you are assured of receiving the very best advanced motorcycle rider training available in the UK.
