Hello I would like to introduce myself, my name is Paul James and I am a motorcycling enthusiast.
A member of the IAM and former member of Severn Advanced Motorcycle club in Gloucester, my wife and I have enjoyed touring around different parts of France on our bikes, taking in the ambience and culture, along with the history and tradition of this beautiful country.
In 2016 we purchased an old wine cellar and store, (called a Chai in French) as the beginning of our dream.
Now several years later, we are able to share this dream with others, the Chai is now completely renovated to a very high standard with 6 en-suite bedrooms we can sleep 12 people. There is a very well equipped large modern kitchen and dining area with everything you need to prepare meals, a utility room with automatic washing machine should you require, a downstairs bathroom with bath and WC. From the kitchen/dining room there are two large doors that lead onto three terrace levels, the first is a designated BBQ area with large outdoor table and benches where you can enjoy your BBQ with a glass of local Bergerac wine and reflect upon your day with friends. The second terrace is ideal for soaking up the sun and quietly reading or chatting to others. The third terrace provides a 10m x 5m heated swimming pool with a constant depth of 1.3, ideal for those who like pool games .
Although we are motorcycle orientated, the gite lends itself to large groups i.e. families, car club enthusiasts and motorcycle groups, with many things to explore during the day. The Dordogne Valley is steeped in history with many fortified towns and Chateaux with an abundance of fabulous biking roads, perfect for coffee and lunch stops as you can see with our previous guests and tours.
We are based in a superb location where you can experience the local food, wines and culture with some of the most beautiful scenery in France.
For an example of our service its not just the gite, for one weeks stay (Saturday to Saturday) for the motorcycle enthusiasts we can run three guided tours generally around 200 km per day, there is always the option of self-guided tours too.
Taking in places of interest where you will have time to explore, the days itinerary is usually ride 1hr to 1.30hrs stop for coffee, more amazing roads and scenery for approximately 1hr then stop for lunch, after lunch more stunning roads and scenery and can include a stop off at places of interest, like a chateau or fortified town/troglodyte caves systems if the group so wishes.
We try to tailor the tours to the group as some just like to ride and others like to explore and take on the ambience of the places and history.
